DAY 1 – HO CHI MINH CITY | FLIGHT TO PHU QUOC | ISLAND ARRIVAL
Fly from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc International Airport — approximately 55 minutes, one of the most rewarding short flights in Vietnam: the island appears below the aircraft as a forested green mass ringed by white sand and turquoise water, the Gulf of Thailand extending in every direction toward the horizon with Cambodia’s coast just visible to the northeast on clear days. Transfer by private vehicle to your beachfront resort and check in.
The remainder of the day is yours entirely. The resort, the beach, the pool, and whatever combination of horizontal activity the body most requires after the journey to get here. Room service on the villa terrace as the sun drops over the Gulf, the water turning a sequence of colors — gold, then copper, then a deep pink that fades to grey — that no photograph has ever adequately reproduced. An early, uncomplicated dinner at the resort: fresh seafood, cold Saigon beer, and the particular satisfaction of having arrived somewhere genuinely beautiful.
DAY 2 – PHU QUOC | FULL RESORT DAY & SPA
A day with no schedule and no obligation to have one. The island’s luxury resorts — JW Marriott, InterContinental, Premier Village, Fusion Resort — are destinations in themselves, designed to be inhabited rather than merely slept in: multiple pools at different elevations above the beach, spa facilities drawing from Vietnamese traditional healing traditions, beach butlers, paddleboards and kayaks available at the waterline, and a level of attentiveness that makes the simplest request feel considered.
Morning: breakfast on the terrace, a long swim, the beach. Late morning: the spa — a two-hour treatment drawing from Vietnamese traditional medicine: hot stone massage with local river stones, a lemongrass and ginger body scrub using ingredients grown on the island, and a final hydrotherapy session in an open-air tub above the garden. Afternoon: the pool, a book, the particular quality of Phu Quoc light in the hours before sunset when the Gulf becomes a mirror and the horizon disappears. Dinner at the resort’s signature restaurant: a tasting menu of contemporary Vietnamese cuisine paired with wines chosen by the sommelier, eaten at a table six metres above the waterline as the tide comes in below.
DAY 3 – PHU QUOC | AN THOI ARCHIPELAGO ISLAND HOP & SNORKEL
The island’s most rewarding active day. Depart the resort pier at 8:30 AM by private speedboat for the An Thoi Archipelago — fifteen small islands strung along the southern tip of Phu Quoc in water of a clarity and color that rival the Maldives and Andaman Islands at a fraction of the cost and with none of the crowds. The guide selects three to four snorkel sites from the route based on current visibility and tide conditions: coral gardens alive with parrotfish, angelfish, and sea turtles; a natural rock arch swimmable at the right tide; and a sheltered white sand beach on Hon Thom Island accessible only by boat, where lunch is served under a palm canopy — grilled tiger prawns, steamed clams with lemongrass, and fresh coconut.
Return to Phu Quoc in the mid-afternoon. The Phu Quoc Night Market in the evening: Vietnam’s most celebrated open-air seafood market, a line of charcoal grills along the beach where the day’s catch is displayed on ice, pointed at, priced by weight, and delivered to a plastic table in the salt air fifteen minutes later. Order everything that looks good. The squid, the crab, and the razor clams cooked with butter and garlic are always the answer.
DAY 4 – PHU QUOC | MANGROVE KAYAK & PEPPER FARM | AFTERNOON AT LEISURE
A gentle active morning before an unhurried afternoon. Rise early for a sunrise kayak through the mangrove forest at the northern tip of the island — a waterway system navigable only by small boat, the mangrove roots forming a natural tunnel above the kayak in the early morning light, with kingfishers visible on the branches above and small fish visible in the clear water below. The guide leads a route through the inner channels before emerging into open water for the return paddle as the island wakes up around you. Back at the resort by 9:30 AM for a late breakfast.
Mid-morning transfer to a Phu Quoc pepper farm — the island’s most distinctive agricultural product, its pepper grown on the latite-rich volcanic soil of the island’s central ridge and classified among the world’s finest. A guided walk through the farm with the owner: the difference between green, red, and black pepper at each stage of maturity, the hand-harvesting process, the sun-drying technique that produces the concentrated heat and complex aroma that chefs in Paris and Tokyo specifically seek out. A tasting of fresh peppercorns at different stages of ripeness — a revelation for those who have only ever encountered pepper in a grinder. Return to the resort for a long afternoon and a final sunset at the clifftop bar.
DAY 5 – PHU QUOC | VINPEARL SAFARI & FINAL BEACH AFTERNOON
Morning visit to Vinpearl Safari — Southeast Asia’s largest open-air wildlife conservation park, home to more than 3,000 animals across 380 species including white rhino, giraffe, hippo, cheetah, and Asiatic lion, all housed in habitats designed around their natural environments rather than traditional zoo enclosures. The safari section is toured by open-top vehicle with a naturalist guide; the walk-through zones allow closer observation of primate species including orangutan and gibbon. Return to the resort by noon.
A final, unhurried beach afternoon. The island as it was designed to be experienced: nothing to do and nowhere to be, the Gulf of Thailand in front of you and the jungle behind you, and the sun doing what it does over the water in this particular latitude. Farewell dinner at the resort’s beach grill: whole fish roasted over charcoal, grilled lobster split and basted, and the kind of long meal that resort beach restaurants do best — plates arriving slowly, the conversation easy, the waves audible through the gaps in the conversation.
DAY 6 – PHU QUOC | DEPARTURE
A final Phu Quoc morning — a last swim, a last coffee on the terrace, a last look at the Gulf — before transfer to Phu Quoc International Airport for your onward flight. Direct international connections from Phu Quoc to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Seoul, and selected European hubs.
